Legal consequences

   World nuclear power as a result of the Chernobyl accident was a serious blow.    Under article 10 of the Federal Law of 20 February 1995 N 24-FZ "On information, informatization and information protection" when reporting on emergencies, environmental, meteorological, demographic, sanitary-epidemiological and other data necessary for the safe operation of production facilities, security citizens and the general public, are open and can not treat information with restricted access.

   In accordance with Article 7 of the Federal Law of July 21, 1993 N 5485-1 «On State Secrets" are not subject to classification as state secrets and classified as secret information about the state of the environment.

   The current Criminal Code of Russia in Article 237 establishes the liability of persons for concealing information about the circumstances that endanger the life or health.
